Chief of Staff Represents Mahama at Anlo Funeral
The Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah on Saturday led a high-powered government delegation to Anlo-Afiadenyigba in the Volta Region
to represent President John Dramani Mahama at the final funeral rites of the late Presbyter Henrietta Atsufui Avuglah.
His presence underscored the importance President Mahama attaches to standing in solidarity with bereaved families, particularly those who have served both church and nation with distinction.
The Chief of Staff was joined by the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, the Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mawutor Agbavitor, as well as other senior party executives and dignitaries.
Presbyter Avuglah was the mother of Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, Member of Parliament for Keta. Her passing at the age of 76 drew an outpouring of support from political leaders, traditional authorities, clergy and community members from across the country.
Throughout the solemn and dignified ceremony, tributes highlighted the late Presbyter’s lifelong dedication to church work, her strong moral values, and the lasting impact she made in shaping lives within her family and community.
By personally leading the delegation, Mr. Debrah conveyed President Mahama’s condolences to Mr. Gakpey, his siblings and the extended Gakpey and Avuglah families, reaffirming government’s solidarity with them in their moment of grief.
Speakers at the ceremony noted that the large turnout reflected the deep respect the late church worker commanded and demonstrated the unity of purpose among leaders and citizens in times of loss.
The Chief of Staff’s participation further reinforced the close relationship between the Presidency and the people of the Volta Region, as the nation joined the family to celebrate a life devoted to faith, service and community.
