The National Democratic Congress has served a stern warning on serving officers and men of the nation’s security agencies who are allowing themselves to be used in all manner of unprofessional conducts by the governing NPP to hold themselves ready to leave their jobs along with the Akufo-Addo regime.
Addressing a press conference in Accra yesterday to draw attention to series of brutalities being unleashed on NDC supporters, sympathisers, activists, and registration agents at various registration centres across the country, the NDC said that the party has taken notice of the unprofessional conduct of some security officials who have turned themselves into operatives of the governing party.
In particular, the NDC pointed out the conduct of the Winneba Police Commander, who the party has noted, has become pawn in the hands of Afenyo-Markins, the incumbent NPP MP.
The Winneba Police Commander has caused the arrest of the NDC Parliamentary Candidate and had him charged and arraigned before court within a space of two hours on a charge of Acts Tending To Breach of the Peace.
The NDC candidate’s crime was that he asked the Winneba Police Commander, “You are the chairman and so what? You are the reason why there is no peace in Winneba”.
The NDC noted that the nation’s security agencies have some very highly professional and highly dedicated officers and men; indeed, these professionally minded officers and men are in the majority.
“But there are a few bad nuts who are allowing themselves to be used in various unprofessional conducts. Those unprofessional personnel seem to have tied their professional careers to the political fortunes of the NPP. So, once you have tied your professional career to the political fortunes of a political party, you must be ready to exit with the party once the party is exiting power,” the NDC National Communications Officer, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi stressed.
"Notice is hereby served to all unscrupulous Security Officials who have lent themselves to the despotic Akufo Addo-gov’t as pliant agents of violence against innocent citizens, that the next NDC gov’t will fish them out and deal with them mercilessly when power eventually shifts," Sammy Gyamfi stated
Meanwhile, Winneba residents have called on the Inspector General of Police to transfer the Police Commander out of the District.
