One person has died and eight others sustained injuries in a head-on collision involving a water tanker and a Toyota Voxy on the Kasoa-Winneba Road.
The accident occurred on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Tipper Junction along the Kasoa-Winneba stretch.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said firefighters from the Buduburam Fire Station were dispatched to the scene following reports of the collision.
According to the Fire Service, the emergency responders successfully rescued eight injured persons from the crash and transported them to the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa for medical treatment.
However, one of the victims later succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.
“Unfortunately, one person later died,” the GNFS said in a statement.
The collision caused significant damage to the vehicles involved.
The Toyota Voxy reportedly sustained extensive damage to its engine compartment, while the water tanker also suffered partial damage.
The Fire Service did not immediately disclose the identities of the deceased or injured victims.
The circumstances leading to the head-on collision remain unclear.
The GNFS said the cause of the accident is under investigation, with authorities expected to establish what led to the two vehicles colliding at Tipper Junction.
The incident adds to concerns over road safety along the busy Kasoa-Winneba corridor, which regularly carries significant volumes of commercial and private traffic.
Motorists have been urged to exercise caution, observe speed limits and remain vigilant, particularly at busy junctions and sections where traffic conditions can change rapidly.
