Fuel tanker overturns at Adidome

A fuel tanker carrying petrol overturned at Adidome Dorfor in the early hours of Friday, prompting a swift response from the Adidome Fire Station that averted what could have been a catastrophic incident.

According to a post shared on Facebook by the Ghana Fire Service, the tanker, bearing registration number GT 5867-21, veered off its lane and toppled onto its side, creating an immediate risk due to the highly flammable petrol it was carrying.

The Adidome Fire Station received a distress call and promptly dispatched a team under the leadership of ASTN/O Gabienu Perry at 12:19 pm. The crew arrived on the scene at 12:30 pm and quickly assessed the situation, recognizing the imminent danger of fire or explosion.

Acting swiftly, the firefighters deployed foam concentrate to cool the overturned tanker, successfully preventing any escalation. By 1:00 pm, the situation had been brought under control, averting potential disaster for nearby road users and the tanker driver.

Later in the morning, at 11:00 am, a GNFS recovery truck successfully removed the overturned tanker, allowing the road to be cleared and reopened to traffic.

The prompt and professional intervention of the Adidome Fire Station team was instrumental in ensuring the safety of both the driver and other road users, demonstrating effective emergency preparedness and rapid response capabilities.
