Aghahowa and Tahiru Reach Out to Energy Minister Jinapor

We respectfully appeal for your urgent and immediate intervention in addressing the ongoing energy challenges, particularly within the Ashanti Region, where the situation appears to be increasingly concerning for residents, businesses, and stakeholders alike.

It has come to our attention that Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, widely known as Chairman COKA, who is an aspirant for the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman position and a former Board Member of the Energy Ministry, allegedly leveraged his previous position to facilitate the appointment of individuals affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into key roles within the energy sector. Reports indicate that a significant number of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) District Managers in the Ashanti Region, as well as in other parts of the country, are members or loyalists of the NPP.

This development raises serious concerns about neutrality and commitment to the current administration’s agenda. There is growing apprehension that some individuals occupying these strategic positions may not be fully aligned with the objectives of the present government and could potentially act in ways that undermine its efforts to stabilize and improve the energy sector. Honourable Minister, we strongly believe that taking swift and decisive action to resolve the current energy challenges in the Ashanti Region will not only restore public confidence but also safeguard the political future and credibility of our party within the region.

Furthermore, we wish to extend our appeal to all government appointees serving across various state agencies and institutions. It has been observed that several NPP loyalists continue to occupy influential positions, and there are increasing indications that some of them may be working counter to the progress and success of this administration. This situation is particularly troubling, as it suggests that the efforts and sacrifices of loyal party members are being overlooked.

Regrettably, there are also concerns that some leaders within our own ranks appear to be comfortable maintaining or even empowering these individuals, despite their questionable allegiance. This has created a sense of dissatisfaction and discouragement among committed members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who have consistently demonstrated loyalty and dedication to the party’s vision and goals.

Honourable Members, it is important that we do not lose sight of the sacrifices, resilience, and unity that brought us this far. We stood together during challenging times and worked tirelessly to reclaim power from the NPP. As such, we must remain vigilant, strategic, and fair in ensuring that those entrusted with responsibility are genuinely committed to advancing the interests of the government and the people.
