National inter faith memorial service for Fatal Helicopter Crash

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has reflected on the painful moments following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of senior government officials, party executives and security personnel.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as “General Mosquito”, recalled how the devastating news disrupted what had been a routine engagement with party supporters and members who had gathered at his office to discuss their concerns and seek assistance.

According to him, he was attending to a number of party grassroots members who frequently visit his office to express their frustrations, challenges and expectations regarding appointments and employment opportunities when he received an emergency call about the helicopter accident.

He said the atmosphere immediately changed after the news broke, as details about the incident remained unclear and uncertainty gripped everyone present.

The National Chairman explained that he had to inform the visitors that he could no longer continue with the engagement because of the emergency situation involving the helicopter carrying state officials.

The announcement, he said, brought shock and sorrow to the gathering, with murmurs and emotional reactions spreading among those present as reports about the victims began emerging.

He described the moment as one filled with agony and mourning, noting that Ghana had lost individuals who represented valuable human resources and contributed significantly to the country's development.

The crash, which involved state officials and military personnel, plunged the nation into a period of grief as families, colleagues and political associates mourned the loss of the victims.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah's reflection highlights the emotional impact of the tragedy on not only government and party circles but also ordinary citizens who shared in the national mourning that followed.
