Nii Lantey Vanderpuye Declares NDC National Chairman Bid, Calls for Party Unity

Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has officially declared his intention to contest the National Chairman position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), urging party members to unite behind his bid to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.

Mr Vanderpuye made the announcement during an engagement with branch executives, constituency leaders and other stakeholders of the NDC in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa Constituency.

The engagement, which attracted a significant turnout of party members and supporters, focused on strengthening internal unity, consolidating the party’s grassroots base and motivating the rank and file ahead of the party’s next organisational activities.

Addressing the gathering, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye formally announced his decision to contest the NDC National Chairman position and appealed to party members to support his candidature.

He said his ambition was driven by the need to reposition the party, strengthen internal cohesion and build a more effective grassroots organisation capable of sustaining the NDC’s political fortunes.

According to him, a strong grassroots structure remains essential to the party’s ability to connect with supporters, mobilise effectively and maintain its presence across constituencies.

He therefore called for renewed commitment among party executives and members to building a united and resilient organisation.

The meeting was also used to engage party executives and stakeholders on issues affecting the grassroots.

Nii Lantey Vanderpuye and Ekow Harry Yamson, Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), interacted with branch executives and constituency leadership as part of efforts to deepen engagement within the party.

Discussions centred on unity, support for party members and strengthening the relationship between the party’s leadership and its grassroots structures.

The engagement also touched on the equitable distribution of government opportunities and the need to ensure that party members and constituents are adequately informed and supported.

Nii Lantey Vanderpuye also used the occasion to address reports of a purported disagreement between himself and NDC National Communications Officer and Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi.

He dismissed concerns that the reported differences could undermine party unity, explaining that the matter had been amicably resolved.

According to him, whatever disagreements may have existed have been settled and there is no lasting division between the two officials.

He stressed the importance of maintaining unity of purpose within the NDC, particularly as the party seeks to consolidate its organisational structures.

The MP’s message centred largely on unity and the need for the NDC to strengthen its internal structures.

He urged party members to remain committed to the collective interest of the party and work together to build a stronger grassroots organisation.

The engagement ended with renewed expressions of solidarity and commitment among party supporters in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa Constituency.

Nii Lantey Vanderpuye’s declaration adds another dimension to the emerging contest for the NDC National Chairman position, with his campaign expected to focus on grassroots mobilisation, internal cohesion and organisational strengthening.
