Ghana Armed Forces Honours Outgoing Forces Sergeant Major After 30 Years of Service

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has held a Farewell Parade and Pulling-Out Ceremony in honour of its outgoing Forces Sergeant Major (FSM), Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Addo, at Burma Camp in Accra, marking the end of his 30 years of dedicated military service.

The event, which followed full military tradition, brought together senior officers, personnel of the three services, and invited guests to celebrate CWO Addo’s distinguished career and contributions to national security.

Serving as Guest of Honour, the Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, presented CWO Addo with a brand-new Toyota Hilux pickup vehicle in recognition of his meritorious service, discipline, dedication, and sacrifice to the Ghana Armed Forces. He was also awarded a citation along with additional gifts from the Military High Command and other organisations, acknowledging his invaluable role in strengthening the armed forces.

In his farewell remarks, CWO Addo expressed deep appreciation to the military leadership and his colleagues for their support throughout his career. He encouraged officers and soldiers to maintain high standards of discipline and professionalism and urged them to extend the same cooperation to his successor, Master Warrant Officer Alhassan Zakaria.

As part of the ceremony, a parade featuring personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force was held. A symbolic handing-over of the command baton to MWO Zakaria took place, representing the official transfer of authority and continuity in leadership.

The event concluded with the traditional pulling-out ceremony, a significant military ritual that marked CWO Addo’s formal retirement from active service after three decades of commitment to duty.
