Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced a 24-hour planned shutdown of the Dodowa Booster Station to carry out scheduled maintenance works aimed at improving the efficiency, reliability and long-term sustainability of water supply to several communities across the Greater Accra Region.
According to the company, the maintenance exercise forms part of its routine infrastructure improvement programme designed to enhance service delivery and ensure a more stable water distribution system for customers.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 7, Ghana Water Limited said the temporary shutdown will commence on Thursday, July 9, 2026, and will remain in effect for 24 hours.
The company explained that the planned maintenance will allow its engineering team to undertake critical servicing and technical works at the Dodowa Booster Station, an important facility within the region's water distribution network.
GWL noted that the exercise is necessary to improve the station's operational efficiency, minimise future service disruptions and strengthen the overall reliability of water supply to consumers.
As a result of the shutdown, customers supplied by the Dodowa Booster Station are expected to experience temporary interruptions in water supply or reduced water pressure throughout the maintenance period.

Ghana Water Limited is encouraging customers in the affected communities to store sufficient quantities of water before the shutdown begins to minimise inconvenience during the maintenance period.
The company also urged consumers to use available water responsibly and conserve supplies until normal distribution is restored.
Businesses, healthcare facilities, schools and other institutions that depend heavily on continuous water supply have also been advised to make the necessary contingency arrangements.
GWL assured the public that its technical and engineering teams will work around the clock to complete the maintenance within the scheduled 24-hour period.
According to the company, every effort will be made to restore normal water supply immediately after the successful completion of the planned works.
The utility provider explained that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to improve the performance of the booster station and ensure more reliable water services in the future.
