Two killed, two injured after police operation turns violent in Sefwi Sayerano

A police operation to arrest a suspected drug peddler in Sefwi Sayerano in the Western North Region reportedly ended in tragedy after a confrontation between security officers and residents left two people dead and two others injured.

Speaking to Adom News, local resident Okyeame Kwaku Ortiz claimed that police officers opened fire during the clash, leading to multiple casualties.

He alleged that two people were killed on the spot, while two others suffered gunshot wounds and fractures during the incident.

Residents have also reported that another individual is currently missing, raising fears that the person may have been caught up in the confrontation. However, this claim has not yet been independently verified by the authorities.

The injured victims have been rushed to a nearby health facility, where they are receiving medical treatment.

Meanwhile, one of the deceased has been deposited at a mortuary, while the second body reportedly remains in the community as family members and residents await further action from the authorities.

Okyeame Kwaku Ortiz criticised the manner in which the operation was conducted and called on the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the shooting.
