Momentum is building ahead of the inaugural Hola Accra Music Festival, as the Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, Ángel Lossada Torres-Quevedo, paid a courtesy visit to the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru VII, at his palace in Kaneshie, Accra, to discuss preparations for the upcoming cultural event.
The festival, which seeks to celebrate and strengthen musical and cultural ties between Ghana and Spain, is scheduled to take place at Ussher Fort (Old Kingsway Building) in Jamestown on April 24, 2026.
The event will feature performances from Spanish band Mucho Mungo alongside leading Ghanaian acts, including Lipstick Queens, Akablay’s Abiza Band, and Dan Grahl’s Hyskuul Band. The lineup reflects a blend of diverse musical styles aimed at fostering artistic collaboration between the two countries.
The Hola Accra Music Festival is being organised by the Spanish Agency for Cooperation in partnership with the Embassy of Spain in Ghana, the Musicians Union of Ghana, Showbiz Africa, the Creative Arts Agency, and Globe Production.
The festival is also receiving sponsorship support from major brands including Coca-Cola, La Liga EA Sports, SuperSport, and GB Foods Ghana.
During the meeting, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru VII expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward deepening cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Ghana and Spain. He pledged his full support to ensure the success of the festival.
Ambassador Torres-Quevedo also shared his excitement about the event, stating that it promises to deliver a vibrant outdoor experience that combines the colourful atmosphere of Ghanaian festivals with the dynamic energy of Spanish fiestas—celebrations known for music, dance, food, and strong community participation.
He further praised Ghana’s rich and diverse cultural landscape, noting that the country continues to produce high-quality artistic talent. According to him, Spain is proud to partner in creating a platform that showcases creativity and fosters collaboration between artists from both nations.
The maiden edition of the Hola Accra Music Festival will run from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm on April 24, 2026. Organisers hope to establish it as an annual event that will attract music lovers, boost tourism, and strengthen cultural diplomacy between Ghana and Spain.
