The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central Constituency, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has announced plans to construct a waterfall in the area by next year as part of efforts to boost tourism and stimulate the local economy. The ambitious project is expected to become a major attraction within the constituency and contribute to long-term development.
Speaking to Joy Prime on the sidelines of the ongoing Gomoa Easter Carnival 2026, he explained that the initiative forms part of a broader vision to transform Gomoa Central into a vibrant tourism hub capable of attracting both local and international visitors.
“The last time I went to Dubai I saw penguin. People leave Ghana to Dubai to see a penguin. Next time when you come to the Gomoa Easter Carnival, you will see a waterfall. As we speak, currently there is no waterfall in Gomoa. But next Easter Carnival you will see a huge waterfall, maybe bigger than any waterfall you can find anywhere. There are so many people who travel to other countries to see waterfalls which are artificial, and we can build waterfalls here. I will build a waterfall in Gomoa,” he said.
He noted that the initiative is aimed at driving economic activity in Gomoa Central through tourism-led development, creating opportunities for local businesses, artisans, and service providers while positioning the constituency as a destination for leisure and cultural experiences.
A Plus is not only a politician but also a creative industry player and social commentator, known for using entertainment-driven initiatives to promote development in his constituency. His approach combines culture, tourism, and entrepreneurship as tools for community growth and youth engagement.
The Gomoa Easter Carnival 2026 is a four-day event scheduled from April 2 to April 5, 2026, across various communities in Gomoa Central. It features activities such as bonfire nights, art exhibitions, food bazaars, masquerades, and a grand durbar of chiefs, alongside street performances and cultural displays that celebrate the heritage of the Gomoa people while stimulating local businesses.
The festival also boasts musical performances from top Ghanaian artistes, including Kwabena Kwabena, Ofori Amponsah, Kofi Kinaata, Kuami Eugene, Samini, and Shatta Wale, alongside emerging talents.
Other artistes billed for the event include KK Fosu, Dada Hafco, Bisa Kdei, Kofi Nti, Sarkodie, Obrafour, Kwaw Kese, Okyeame Kwame, Sista Afia, Tinny, Amerado, Sefa, and VVIP, among others.
The event, an initiative of Kwame Asare Obeng, is being organised in partnership with Multimedia Group Limited as part of efforts to position Gomoa as a key tourism and cultural destination in Ghana. The proposed waterfall project is expected to complement such events, offering a permanent attraction that could sustain tourism beyond seasonal festivities.
