The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced that applications for its Regular Students Loan and Students Loan Plus schemes for the 2025/2026 academic year will officially close on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
The Fund is urging all eligible tertiary students who have started the application process to complete and submit their applications before the deadline to avoid missing the opportunity to receive financial assistance for their studies.
In a statement issued on July 6, the SLTF said the application portal will be closed to enable the timely processing and disbursement of approved loans for the current academic year while allowing the Fund to begin preparations for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The Fund advised applicants who are at various stages of the application process to finalise their submissions as early as possible to avoid delays or technical challenges that often arise close to deadlines.
According to the SLTF, it has already disbursed GH¢170,493,187.50 under the Regular Students Loan Scheme, benefiting 47,988 tertiary students across Ghana.
The Fund also revealed that GH¢17,205,184.13 has been disbursed through the Students Loan Plus initiative to 1,426 students, including 610 law students.
Unlike the regular loan scheme, the Students Loan Plus programme provides full tuition fee coverage, with payments made directly to participating tertiary institutions on behalf of beneficiaries.
Combined, the two schemes have provided more than GH¢187.6 million in financial support to students pursuing higher education during the current academic year.
The SLTF said the latest disbursement figures demonstrate its continued commitment to improving access to tertiary education by providing financial assistance to students who may otherwise struggle to meet the cost of higher education.
The Fund noted that expanding access to education financing remains a key priority in supporting Ghana's human capital development agenda and ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent qualified students from pursuing their academic goals.
The Fund is encouraging prospective beneficiaries who have not yet completed their applications to do so well before the July 15 deadline.
It warned that waiting until the final days could result in heavy traffic on the application portal, which may affect the timely submission of applications.
Applicants are therefore advised to review all required documents carefully and ensure that their applications are fully completed before the portal closes.
The statement, signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Students Loan Trust Fund, Dr. Saajida Shiraz, reaffirmed the Fund's commitment to providing timely, transparent and efficient financial support to Ghanaian tertiary students.
Students requiring additional information or assistance with the application process have been advised to visit the nearest SLTF zonal office or contact the Fund through its official communication channels.
The SLTF says it remains committed to helping more students access quality tertiary education through sustainable and accessible loan financing programmes.
