Dr. David Tetteh has been elected and sworn in as a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NDC Professionals Forum, in a development widely interpreted as a move to enhance the Forum’s technical strength and policy direction.
Dr. Tetteh, a trained pharmacist and marketing professional, currently serves on the Governing Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). He is widely regarded for his expertise in pharmaceutical practice, health sector marketing, and policy implementation, particularly within Ghana’s evolving health insurance system. His appointment is expected to bolster the Forum’s capacity in shaping health-related policy discussions and broader socio-economic reforms.
His election comes at a time when the NDC Professionals Forum is intensifying efforts to strengthen its role in policy formulation, professional mobilisation, and strategic advisory support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The Forum is increasingly positioning itself as a key think-tank within the party, contributing technical expertise to national development conversations.
Over the years, Dr. Tetteh has held several leadership and operational roles within both the Forum and the NDC. These include Branch Chairman, National Operations Coordinator for the Young Professionals Forum, Director of Research for the Western North Regional Communications Bureau, and Constituency Collation Officer during the 2024 general elections. His political and professional background reflects a blend of grassroots party experience and high-level policy engagement.
He has consistently advocated for sustainable health financing, improved access to essential medicines, and evidence-based policymaking—principles aligned with the NDC’s social democratic ideology. His inclusion in the NEC is therefore seen as part of a broader strategy to integrate experienced professionals into the party’s decision-making structures.
The newly elected leadership of the Professionals Forum is headed by Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse, who secured a decisive victory with 577 votes, representing 91% of valid ballots cast. She currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is expected to steer the Forum toward greater policy relevance, institutional coordination, and national impact.
Other elected executives include Samuelhans Wauku, who won the First Vice President position with 65% of votes, Eben-Kay-Kwabena Hodo, elected Secretary General with 53%, and Dr. Joshua Doe, who became Deputy Secretary General with an overwhelming 95% approval.
In the commission leadership structure, Sophia Ama Otabil was elected to head the Women’s Commission, while Dr. Robert Doh took charge of the Youth Commission—both securing over 95% of votes, reflecting strong internal consensus around their leadership.
Out of 1,385 registered voters, a total of 636 participated in the election, representing a turnout of 45.92%. Analysts suggest the outcome signals a deliberate shift by the Forum toward strengthening internal cohesion, policy influence, and professional credibility as it seeks to contribute more directly to the NDC’s governance and development agenda.
