President John Dramani Mahama is set to depart for France on Monday, April 6, 2026, for an official visit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, according to an announcement by his spokesperson.
As part of his visit, President Mahama—who is also the founder of the Accra Reset Initiative—will participate in the 2026 One Health Summit in Lyon before traveling to Paris for high-level bilateral discussions at the Élysée Palace.
In a statement, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who serves as Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, confirmed that President Mahama will co-chair the high-level segment of the One Health Summit alongside President Macron on Tuesday.
The One Health Summit is expected to convene global leaders, health ministers, and international experts to deliberate on critical issues affecting global health systems. Key topics on the agenda include sustainable food production, strengthening health infrastructure, and developing coordinated strategies to tackle emerging and re-emerging health threats worldwide.
During the summit, President Mahama is scheduled to deliver two keynote addresses. The first will be presented at a session focused on Global Health Architecture, co-chaired by President Macron and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization. This session will examine reforms to global health systems and is expected to culminate in the endorsement of a Political Declaration aimed at strengthening international cooperation in health.
His second keynote address will officially open the high-level segment for heads of state and government. In this address, President Mahama will outline Ghana’s commitments, policy direction, and perspectives on global health security, highlighting the country’s role in advancing international health collaboration.
On Wednesday, April 8, President Mahama will proceed to Paris for a bilateral meeting with President Macron. The talks are expected to focus on deepening diplomatic and economic relations between Ghana and France, with particular emphasis on cooperation in health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.
Ahead of his meeting at the Élysée Palace, President Mahama will also hold discussions with Gérard Larcher at the Senate House, further strengthening parliamentary and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Following the conclusion of his official engagements, President Mahama is expected to return to Accra shortly after his meeting with President Macron.
