Suame MP John Darko granted enquiry bail in GH¢27m SIC Savings and Loans investigation after reporting to EOCO

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has granted Suame Member of Parliament John Darko enquiry bail after he reported to the Office to assist with investigations into an alleged financial loss of approximately GH¢27 million at SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited.

In a statement dated October 13, 2026, EOCO said it was investigating an alleged criminal conspiracy linked to the financial loss, which has been revised to approximately GH¢27 million.

According to the Office, Mr Darko was invited to provide information relevant to the ongoing investigation and reported to its premises at exactly 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 13.

EOCO described the MP as respectful and cooperative, adding that he responded fully to investigators during the engagement.

“Given the circumstances of the case, the applicable law, and his cooperation, the Office granted him enquiry bail,” the statement said.

EOCO further disclosed that Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, the former Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, has also honoured an invitation from the Office and is cooperating with investigators.

The investigation centres on an alleged criminal conspiracy associated with the financial loss recorded at the company. However, EOCO has not disclosed a final determination of responsibility in the matter.

The Office said the probe was progressing steadily in line with its case theory and reiterated that investigations remained active.

EOCO emphasised that no conclusion had been reached regarding the culpability or otherwise of any individual connected to the case.

The granting of enquiry bail to John Darko does not, in itself, establish guilt or innocence. The investigation remains ongoing as the Office continues to gather information and examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged loss.

The case adds to EOCO’s ongoing work investigating alleged financial and economic crimes, with the Office expected to establish the relevant facts before reaching any conclusions about the individuals involved.
