Former Germany head coach Joachim Löw has dismissed reports linking him to the Ghana national football team, insisting that he has had no contact with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) regarding the Black Stars coaching position.
The speculation emerged following widespread media reports suggesting that Löw, who led Germany to World Cup glory in 2014, was being considered to replace Otto Addo as Ghana’s head coach ahead of the upcoming Mundial. However, speaking to Sky Sports, Löw clarified: “No one officially spoke to me about Ghana.”
Despite dismissing the Ghanaian links, Löw revealed that he remains open to returning to active football management if the right opportunity arises. “Basically, I said that I don't want to say goodbye to retirement now. Especially when there is once again an interesting offer and a good perspective,” he said. “As far as my experience is concerned, that would also be the best for me.”
The Black Stars coaching vacancy became available after Otto Addo was sacked following Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Germany in Stuttgart last Monday. The GFA is now reportedly considering several candidates to lead the national team ahead of the next major international tournaments.
Löw, widely regarded as one of the most successful coaches in modern football, has been retired from club and national team management since stepping down from Germany in 2021, but his name continues to surface in discussions of high-profile managerial appointments.
