Partey wins JAC Motors MVP award after performance in Black Stars draw with England

Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey has been named the JAC Motors Man of the Match following his outstanding performance in Ghana's goalless draw against England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The award, presented by the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) official vehicle partner, JAC Motors, recognises Partey's commanding display as Ghana secured a valuable point against the Three Lions in their second Group Stage fixture in Boston.

The result leaves the Black Stars with four points from two matches after opening their World Cup campaign with a victory over Panama.

Making his return to Ghana's starting lineup for the crucial encounter, Partey produced a composed and influential performance throughout the 90 minutes.

The experienced midfielder played the entire match, controlling the tempo in midfield, breaking up England's attacking moves, and providing stability as Ghana frustrated one of the tournament favourites.

His leadership, tactical awareness, and ability to retain possession played a key role in helping head coach Carlos Queiroz's side keep a clean sheet against the European giants.

Partey's performance drew praise from fans and football analysts, with many describing him as one of Ghana's standout players on the night.

Following the final whistle, JAC Motors selected Partey as Ghana's Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the match.

The midfielder received a commemorative plaque along with a cash prize of US$2,000 in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the team's performance.

The award forms part of JAC Motors' partnership with the Ghana Football Association aimed at rewarding excellence and encouraging outstanding performances by Black Stars players during the tournament.

Ghana's draw against England extends the team's unbeaten start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

After defeating Panama in their opening fixture, the Black Stars now have four points from two games, strengthening their chances of progressing to the knockout stage.

The disciplined defensive display against England demonstrated Ghana's growing confidence and tactical organisation under Carlos Queiroz as the team continues its quest for World Cup success.

The Black Stars will now shift their attention to their final Group Stage fixture against Croatia on Sunday, June 27.

JAC Motors has confirmed that it will once again present the Man of the Match award to Ghana's best-performing player in the Croatia encounter.

The company also announced that the MVP initiative will continue throughout the tournament, with outstanding Black Stars players receiving recognition in each subsequent World Cup match.

Supporters will be hoping Partey can maintain his impressive form as Ghana aims to secure qualification for the next stage of the competition and continue its World Cup journey.
