ADB Injects GH¢200,000 into Heal Ghana Campaign

The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has boosted efforts to support critically ill Ghanaians with a donation of GH¢200,000 to the

Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), marking a major contribution to the ongoing “Heal Ghana Month” campaign.
The donation, presented by a delegation from the bank, signals a strong commitment from the financial institution to support the treatment of patients battling chronic non-communicable diseases across the country.
“Heal Ghana Month,” observed in March as part of activities marking Ghana Month, seeks to mobilize individuals, businesses, and institutions to contribute resources toward specialised medical care for patients who cannot afford the high cost of treatment.
The campaign follows the Fund’s February initiative dubbed “Kyere Wo Do” — translated as “Show Your Love.” That fundraising effort appealed to the public to demonstrate compassion toward vulnerable patients and successfully raised GH¢76,910, $570, and €1,000 to support medical interventions.
Officials say the latest contribution from ADB provides fresh momentum for the national drive and highlights the growing partnership between corporate Ghana and the Fund in addressing critical healthcare needs.
Deputy Managing Director of ADB, Prof. Ferdinand Makafui Ahiakpor, who led the bank’s delegation to present the donation at the Fund’s secretariat, said the decision was motivated by the life-changing work the Trust Fund continues to undertake.
According to him, the bank has witnessed the positive impact of the Fund in providing treatment and hope for patients facing life-threatening conditions, making it necessary for ADB to support the initiative.
Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, expressed appreciation to the bank’s leadership for the timely support, describing the gesture as a significant boost to the Fund’s mission of saving lives.
She noted that many families struggle with the high cost of specialised medical care and therefore called on more companies and individuals to support the initiative.
Mrs. Darko-Opoku also pointed out that corporate donations to the Fund qualify for 100 percent tax deductions, offering businesses an opportunity to contribute to national healthcare while enjoying fiscal benefits.
As activities for “Heal Ghana Month” continue, the Fund is encouraging Ghanaians from all sectors to contribute toward ensuring that patients in need receive the life-saving medical care they deserve.
