An early-morning fire has broken out at the North Industrial Area in Avenor, Accra, with flames and thick smoke visible from the surrounding area.
Photographs and videos taken from the windows of the Multimedia Group’s offices show the fire raging in an area occupied by both businesses and residents.
Details about the incident remain limited as authorities work to contain the blaze. The cause of the fire, the extent of damage and whether there are any casualties have not yet been confirmed.
A JoyNews reporter at the scene reported that firefighters had arrived but were facing difficulties accessing the affected area because there were reportedly no accessible roads leading to the site.
Firefighters were continuing efforts to bring the blaze under control as residents watched the fire spread.
Some residents told JoyNews that the flames were consuming their properties and that the intensity of the fire had made it difficult for them to intervene.
