2026 Ghana West Africa Healthcare Excellence Awards: Top companies and individuals honoured

The 9th Ghana–West Africa Healthcare Excellence Awards took centre stage on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the prestigious Marriott Hotel, bringing together leading healthcare professionals, institutions, and policymakers to celebrate excellence and innovation in the sector.

Held under the theme “Recognising Standards and Excellent Stewardship in the Health Industry,” the event served as a major platform to honour individuals and organisations that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Ghana and across the West African sub-region.

The ceremony attracted a diverse audience, including healthcare practitioners, regulators, industry leaders, and government representatives, all united by a shared goal of advancing quality medical care and strengthening health systems.

Emphasis on Collaboration and Innovation

Delivering the keynote address, Wael Fathy, Egypt’s Ambassador to Ghana, underscored the importance of international collaboration, innovation, and sustained investment in building resilient healthcare systems. He noted that strong health systems are essential not only for public well-being but also for economic growth and sustainable development.

He commended the award recipients for their dedication and contributions, emphasizing that their work sets benchmarks for others in the industry to follow.

Focus on Standards and Regulation

Guest speaker Sandra Ayivor, Head of Accreditation Maintenance at the Quality Management Systems Department (QMSD) of the Food and Drugs Authority Ghana, highlighted the critical role of regulatory compliance, accreditation, and standardisation in ensuring safe and effective healthcare services.

She urged healthcare providers to prioritise quality assurance and patient-centred care, stressing that adherence to international standards is key to improving outcomes and building trust in the health system.

Recognising Excellence Across the Sector

The awards ceremony honoured outstanding achievements across multiple categories, including medical innovation, patient care, hospital administration, pharmaceuticals, and public health. Awardees expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as motivation to continue striving for excellence and innovation in their respective fields.

The Ghana–West Africa Healthcare Excellence Awards has, over the years, established itself as a premier platform for recognising excellence, encouraging best practices, and promoting sustainable development within the healthcare industry.

As healthcare challenges continue to evolve, events such as this play a vital role in fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and inspiring stakeholders to uphold the highest standards in medical care across the region.
