Ecobank Ghana appoints Alhassan Andani as Board Chairman

Ecobank Ghana has announced the appointment of Alhassan Andani, former Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana and past President of the Ghana Association of Banks, as its new Board Chairman. His appointment took effect on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

According to a notice sighted by Joy Business, the appointment marks a significant milestone for Ecobank as it seeks to strengthen corporate governance, enhance institutional resilience, and consolidate its leadership position within Ghana’s banking sector.

A Seasoned Banking Leader

In its statement, Ecobank described Chief Andani as one of Ghana’s most respected and accomplished banking professionals, bringing over 36 years of experience in corporate and investment banking, financial management, strategic leadership, and governance.

Throughout his career, he has held several influential executive and board-level roles, earning a reputation as a trusted leader in the financial services industry. The bank noted that his experience extends beyond banking into key national and corporate governance positions, equipping him with a strong blend of strategic insight and policy expertise.

Commenting on the appointment, Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Abena Osei-Poku, said Chief Andani’s leadership will play a crucial role in guiding the bank’s future direction.
