The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has extended his best wishes to candidates sitting for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), urging them to remain calm, focused, and confident throughout the examination period.
In a message shared on his official Facebook page, Mr. Asiedu Nketia emphasized the importance of composure and self-belief, encouraging students to trust in their preparation and give their best effort in every paper.
Drawing from his background as a former teacher, he noted that he understands the level of discipline, dedication, and hard work required to prepare for such a crucial academic milestone. According to him, examinations like the BECE represent not only a test of knowledge but also a moment that demands mental strength and confidence.
“To all candidates writing the BECE, approach each paper with a calm mind and confidence in what you have learned. Give your best—that is what matters most. Wishing you success,” he wrote.
The 2026 BECE, which began on Monday, May 4, and is scheduled to end on May 11, has seen a total of 620,141 candidates registered nationwide. The figure comprises 304,349 boys and 315,792 girls drawn from 22,395 schools across the country.
Each candidate is expected to sit for an average of 11 subjects, covering core and elective areas designed to assess their readiness for the next stage of their academic journey.
Education authorities have reiterated the importance of maintaining examination integrity and have urged candidates to adhere strictly to guidelines while focusing on delivering their best performance.
The BECE remains a critical examination in Ghana’s education system, serving as a gateway for students transitioning from junior high school to senior high school.
