NLA Management Refutes Allegations Against Director General

The management of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) has strongly denied recent allegations circulating in sections of the media suggesting that the Director General, Alhaji Mohammed Abdul Salam, has reduced staff salaries while allegedly increasing his own earnings.

According to the Authority, the claims are inaccurate, misleading, and appear to be part of a coordinated attempt to damage the reputation of the Director General and undermine confidence in ongoing administrative reforms within the organization.

Management clarified that, contrary to the allegations, staff remuneration has not been reduced. Instead, salary adjustments were made through a structured and transparent negotiation process involving relevant stakeholders, with all agreements reportedly documented and verifiable.

NLA Cites Transparent Negotiations and Staff Welfare Improvements

The Authority emphasized that salary-related discussions were handled through formal channels and collective agreements, rather than unilateral decisions by management. It further noted that the process was guided by established public sector procedures aimed at ensuring fairness, accountability, and sustainability.

Officials also highlighted that under the current leadership, efforts have been made to improve staff welfare and strengthen operational efficiency within the NLA. The statement also suggested that some individuals within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) may be behind the spread of the allegations, allegedly seeking to portray the Director General in a negative light. However, no specific names or evidence were provided to substantiate these claims.
