Awardees at the 2026 Ghana Downstream Awards

The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mr Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, has praised the nominees and winners of the 2026 Ghana Downstream Awards, describing them as key contributors to the continued growth, innovation and sustainability of Ghana's downstream petroleum industry.

Speaking at the second Ghana Downstream Awards and Gala Night held in Accra on Saturday, Mr Tameklo said the awards celebrate organisations and individuals whose dedication and professionalism are helping to transform Ghana's energy sector.

According to him, the achievements of the award recipients demonstrate the industry's resilience and commitment to delivering quality services while supporting the country's economic development.

"Every nominee and award recipient represents the progress and professionalism driving our industry forward," he said.

He added that the future of Ghana's downstream petroleum sector would depend on stronger collaboration, innovation and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

"The future of Ghana's downstream petroleum industry will be built on innovation, collaboration and unwavering commitment to excellence."

Mr Tameklo emphasised that a robust downstream petroleum industry remains critical to Ghana's economic growth, energy security and industrial development.

He said the National Petroleum Authority remains committed to creating a regulatory environment that promotes competition, attracts investment and safeguards consumer interests.

"Our goal is to create a downstream sector that is competitive, sustainable and attractive to investment while ensuring that consumers are protected," he stated.

The NPA Chief further noted that building a resilient petroleum industry requires continuous investment in infrastructure, technology, skilled human resources and modern regulatory systems capable of responding to evolving global energy challenges.

"Resilience is not built overnight. It requires continuous investment in infrastructure, technology, human capital and systems that allow us to respond effectively to changing global dynamics," he added.

The 2026 Ghana Downstream Awards and Gala Night, organised after the successful Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GhIPCon 2026), recognised companies and individuals that have demonstrated outstanding performance across the downstream petroleum value chain.

Among the major winners was Sentuo Oil Refinery, which received the Refinery Company of the Year award for its contribution to expanding Ghana's domestic refining capacity and enhancing national energy security.

In the petroleum transportation category, Duah Boachie Training and Transport Limited won Emerging Transporter of the Year, while J. K. Horgle Transport & Company Limited was named Transporter of the Year in recognition of its excellence in petroleum logistics.

Matrix Gas Ghana Limited was honoured as Emerging Company of the Year, reflecting its rapid growth and increasing influence within the downstream industry.

Juwel Energy Limited secured the BIDEC Company of the Year award for excellence in bulk importation, distribution and export operations.

Meanwhile, Moari Oil Company Limited was named Emerging Oil Marketing Company (OMC) of the Year, while Star Oil received one of the night's highest honours after being crowned OMC of the Year for its market leadership, operational excellence and commitment to customer service.

Petroleum Warehousing and Supplies Limited (PWSL) also received a Special Recognition Award for its outstanding contribution to Ghana's downstream petroleum sector.

The awards ceremony also celebrated individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of Ghana's energy industry.

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, NPA Chief Executive Mr Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, and former Deputy Chief Executive of the NPA, Hon Perry Curtis Kwabla Okudzeto, were each presented with honorary awards in recognition of their leadership and service to the downstream petroleum industry.

Their recognition highlighted their roles in strengthening regulation, promoting investment and supporting reforms aimed at improving the efficiency and competitiveness of Ghana's energy sector.

The Ghana Downstream Awards concluded with a renewed commitment by stakeholders to continue raising industry standards, encouraging innovation and promoting operational excellence across every segment of the petroleum value chain.

As Ghana continues to strengthen its position as a regional energy hub, the awards serve as a platform for recognising excellence while inspiring greater collaboration and sustainable growth within the downstream petroleum industry.
