The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has approved a filing fee of GH¢100,000 for aspirants seeking to contest the party’s National Chairman position as part of preparations for its upcoming national executive elections.
The approved fee structure covers 14 national executive positions, including National Chairman, General Secretary, National Organiser, National Communication Officer, National Youth Organiser, National Women’s Organiser and members of the National Executive Committee.
Under the arrangement, the National Chairman position attracts the highest filing fee, followed by the General Secretary position, for which aspirants are required to pay GH¢80,000.
The fees form part of the party’s internal electoral arrangements to select officers responsible for its national administration, communication, organisation and grassroots mobilisation.
According to the approved schedule, all payments are to be made online through the party’s designated platform, forms.ghanandc.com.
The approved filing fees vary according to the position being contested.
The National Chairman position attracts a fee of GH¢100,000, while aspirants seeking to become General Secretary will pay GH¢80,000.
The National Organiser position carries a filing fee of GH¢70,000. Meanwhile, aspirants contesting for National Vice Chairman and Deputy General Secretary are each required to pay GH¢60,000.
The National Communication Officer position attracts a fee of GH¢50,000, while aspirants seeking the positions of National Youth Organiser and National Zongo Caucus Coordinator will each pay GH¢40,000.
For the deputy positions, including Deputy National Organiser, Deputy National Communication Officer and Deputy National Youth Organiser, the approved filing fee is GH¢30,000 each.
The same amount applies to the National Women’s Organiser and Deputy National Women’s Organiser positions, subject to the special provisions outlined for female candidates with disabilities.
Membership of the National Executive Committee carries the lowest filing fee, at GH¢10,000.
In addition to the approved filing fees, all aspirants seeking to contest the various positions are required to pay GH¢2,000 to obtain a nomination form.
The nomination form fee applies across the positions covered by the approved schedule.
The party has directed aspirants to make their payments online through its designated platform as part of the electoral process.
The approved fee structure also provides concessions for female candidates and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Under the arrangement, female aspirants and persons with disabilities will pay 50 per cent of the approved filing fees for the positions they seek to contest.
However, the concession does not apply to the positions of National Women’s Organiser and Deputy National Women’s Organiser, according to the approved provisions.
The concessions are intended to reduce the financial burden on eligible aspirants seeking to participate in the party’s internal elections, although the specific arrangements for the exempted positions remain subject to the approved schedule.
The approval of the filing fees marks another step in the NDC’s preparations to elect its national executive officers.
The positions covered by the schedule play important roles in the party’s administration, policy coordination, communication, youth mobilisation, women’s organisation and grassroots activities.
The National Chairman and General Secretary positions are among the key leadership offices within the party’s national structure, while the various organiser and communication positions support its day-to-day political and organisational operations.
With the fee structure approved, aspirants seeking to contest the positions are expected to take note of the applicable charges, nomination form requirements and online payment arrangements as they prepare for the internal electoral process.
