Government Confirms Black Queens Safe

The Government of Ghana has assured the public that the national senior women’s football team, the Black Queens, are safe and in

high spirits in the United Arab Emirates, where they are participating in the Pink Ladies Cup as part of their competitive build-up to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
In a statement, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation said it is closely monitoring the team’s welfare and maintaining constant communication with key stakeholders to ensure the safety of the players and technical staff.
The Ministry disclosed that the sector Minister has been in direct contact with the leadership of the Ghana Football Association, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the UAE to stay updated on developments and provide the necessary support.
Embassy Engagement and Support
Officials from Ghana’s Mission in the UAE have visited the team’s training camp to personally assure the players and officials of government’s full backing. The Ministry commended the Embassy’s swift response and proactive coordination, noting that such collaboration underscores government’s commitment to the safety of Ghanaian delegations abroad.
The Black Queens’ participation in the Pink Ladies Cup forms a critical part of their tactical and competitive preparations for WAFCON, where they are aiming to make a strong continental statement.
Public Urged to Remain Calm
Government reiterated that the welfare of Ghanaian athletes remains a top priority and that any necessary measures will be taken in the best interest of the team. Authorities, it added, continue to assess the situation in coordination with relevant partners.
The Ministry further appealed to Ghanaians to remain calm and rally behind the Black Queens as they focus on sharpening their strategies and building team cohesion ahead of the continental tournament.
With official assurances and diplomatic support in place, the team is expected to continue its preparations with confidence, carrying the hopes of the nation into the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
