By the grace of God, personnel from the GNFS & NADMO who were injured in line of duty regarding the above disaster occurrence, have been duly treated & discharged from the Winneba Specialist & Trauma Hospital and the Potsin Polyclinic respectively.
The Director General of NADMO Ghana, Major (rtd) Dr Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon immediately sent a high powered delegation from HQ led by Hon Abena Konadu Asante - the Deputy Director General incharge of Protocol with CDCO Richard Yartey Amo - Director of Inspectorate and Colonel (rtd) Ahlie - Director of Operations and others to join the up to the task Regional Director, Hon E. Kwesi Dawood Mensah to engage the victims, the internally displaced and assure them of Govt support.
Additionally, the team was joined by the Gomoa East Mayor, Hon Margaret Naana Ackom to visit the injured officers and to provide the necessary psychosocial and financial support whilst conveying the regards of the transformational DG to them.
The Regional NADMO Secretariat in collaboration with our Gomoa East Directorate has conducted a full needs assessment to provide support for the displaced persons & business owners affected by the massive gas explosion.
According to preliminary reports from the scene, the explosion occurred after a star oil petrol tanker lost control and detonated resulting in a fire disaster that destroyed a local chop bar which has operated there since 1983 and caused significant gridlock on the Kasoa-Winneba highway.
