The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced extended operational hours at selected offices across Ghana as part of efforts to improve customer service delivery and reduce congestion at its service centres.
According to the Authority, the affected offices will now operate from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, under a new arrangement aimed at providing greater convenience and flexibility for motorists, drivers and the general public.
The announcement was made in a Facebook post shared by the DVLA on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
The extended service hours are expected to benefit customers seeking various DVLA services, including vehicle registration, driver licensing, roadworthiness certification, number plate processing and ownership transfers, particularly in high-demand urban centres.
The Authority explained that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve efficiency, shorten waiting times and accommodate the increasing number of people accessing DVLA services across the country.
Several offices in major cities and regional capitals have been selected for the new operational schedule.
In the Greater Accra Region, the arrangement will apply to the DVLA Prestige Centre Head Office, DVLA Narhman Office, DVLA Weija Office, and DVLA Tema Office.
Other offices operating under the extended hours include the DVLA Kumasi Office in the Ashanti Region and the DVLA Tarkwa Office in the Western Region.
In the northern part of the country, the DVLA Bolgatanga Office, DVLA Wa Office and DVLA Tamale Office will also observe the new working hours.
The Authority further announced that customers in the Western and Central Regions will benefit through the DVLA Takoradi Office and DVLA Cape Coast Office.
Additional branches covered under the arrangement include the DVLA Koforidua Office, DVLA Sunyani Office, DVLA Ho Office, DVLA Techiman Office and DVLA Winneba Office.
The DVLA believes the move will significantly improve accessibility to its services, especially for individuals who are unable to visit offices during normal working hours because of work schedules or other commitments.
The initiative is also expected to ease overcrowding at service centres and enhance operational efficiency as demand for licensing and vehicle registration services continues to rise nationwide.
Road transport stakeholders have often called for improved service delivery and longer operational hours at DVLA offices to help reduce delays and improve customer satisfaction.
The Authority has encouraged the public to take advantage of the extended hours while continuing to comply with all road safety and licensing regulations.
The DVLA remains one of the key public institutions responsible for vehicle registration, driver licensing and road transport regulation in Ghana, playing a vital role in ensuring road safety and efficient transport administration across the country.
