Buluk group applauds Dr. Apaak over Chuchuliga–Fumbisi road restart

The Fix the Roads in Buluk Movement has commended the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Clement Apaak, following the resumption of construction works on the previously stalled Chuchuliga–Fumbisi road project.

In a statement released to the press, the civic group described the contractor’s return to site as a major breakthrough and a direct outcome of sustained public advocacy, community pressure, and ongoing engagement with key stakeholders. The Movement noted that the project, which had been abandoned for some time, is critical to improving transportation and connectivity in the area.

“We express our sincere appreciation to the Government, the Honourable Member of Parliament, and all relevant stakeholders whose collective efforts have led to the contractor’s return to site,” the statement said, highlighting the importance of collaboration in achieving results.

According to the group, the resumption of the road project reflects a growing responsiveness by authorities to the concerns of citizens. It emphasized that consistent civic engagement played a significant role in drawing attention to the issue and ensuring that action was taken.

“This is a clear demonstration of commitment to addressing the concerns of citizens and underscores the value of constructive civic engagement,” the Movement stated.

The group also expressed strong support for the contractor’s decision to adopt a phased approach in executing the project. The construction plan will cover key stretches of the road, including Chuchuliga to Sandema, Gbedema to Fumbisi, and Fumbisi to Wiesi.

According to the Movement, this phased execution strategy is expected to improve efficiency, ensure better management of resources, and accelerate the overall completion of the project.

“We are particularly encouraged by the contractor’s innovative approach to executing the project in phases. This strategy is expected to enhance efficiency and accelerate progress,” the statement added.

Despite the renewed optimism, the group cautioned that the success of the project will depend on strict adherence to quality standards and agreed timelines. It stressed the need for the contractor to deliver durable and high-quality work that will serve residents for the long term.

“We urge the contractor to ensure that the highest standards of quality are maintained, while adhering strictly to the stipulated timelines,” the statement emphasized.

The Movement further indicated that it will continue to monitor the progress of the project closely until its full completion, ensuring accountability at every stage.

In addition, the group called on Dr. Apaak to prioritise the rehabilitation and development of other feeder roads within the district. Improving these roads, it noted, would significantly enhance mobility, facilitate trade, and boost economic activity across the wider Buluk area.

The resumption of the Chuchuliga–Fumbisi road project is widely seen as a positive step toward addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges in the region and improving the quality of life for residents who rely heavily on the road for daily activities.
