Dzifa Gomashie Charges Tourism Boards to Ensure Accountability and Good Governance

Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has called on newly inaugurated governing board members of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to uphold the highest standards of accountability, transparency and prudent management of public resources as they assume office.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony in Accra, the Minister stressed that effective leadership and sound governance are essential to strengthening public institutions and ensuring they deliver meaningful results for the country.

She urged the board members to provide strategic oversight, promote innovation and ensure that every decision taken contributes to the long-term growth and sustainability of Ghana's tourism, culture and creative arts sector.

Hon. Gomashie noted that public institutions have a responsibility to manage the nation's limited resources efficiently while maintaining the confidence of citizens and stakeholders.

According to her, transparency, integrity and responsible financial management must remain at the core of the boards' operations if the institutions are to achieve their mandates and contribute to Ghana's socio-economic development.

She encouraged the appointees to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism and fairness, emphasizing that strong governance is critical to improving service delivery and enhancing the performance of public agencies.

The Minister charged the newly appointed governing boards to offer effective policy guidance and strategic direction to their respective institutions.

She said the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park play vital roles in promoting Ghana as a preferred tourism destination, preserving the country's rich cultural heritage and supporting economic growth through tourism.

Hon. Gomashie further urged the board members to work collaboratively with management teams and other stakeholders to improve operational efficiency, strengthen institutional performance and enhance visitor experiences at Ghana's tourism sites.

On behalf of the newly inaugurated boards, members pledged to serve with dedication, integrity and professionalism throughout their tenure.

They assured the Minister of their commitment to advancing the objectives of the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park by promoting tourism, protecting Ghana's historical and cultural heritage and supporting initiatives aimed at expanding the country's creative arts industry.

The board members also pledged to pursue policies that will attract more domestic and international tourists, create employment opportunities and contribute to national economic development.
