Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Godwin Ako Gunn, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Communications Officer ahead of the party’s upcoming internal elections.
Mr Ako Gunn said his decision is motivated by the need to strengthen the party’s communication machinery, deepen grassroots engagement, and enhance the NDC’s interaction with the Ghanaian public.
According to political observers, the National Communications Office remains one of the most strategic units within the NDC, playing a central role in public engagement, policy messaging, media relations, and political strategy.
Analysts believe the upcoming contest could become one of the most closely watched races within the party’s internal elections due to the significance of the position.
Mr Ako Gunn has served within the communications structure of the NDC for several years and built his profile through active involvement in the party’s media and public communication activities.
He previously secured the role of Deputy National Communications Officer during the party’s national executive elections.
His declaration is expected to increase momentum within the race as attention shifts toward how aspirants intend to shape the party’s communication direction in the coming years.
Party supporters and political observers are also expected to closely monitor campaign messages, organisational strategies, and outreach plans from candidates contesting key national executive positions.
The NDC’s communications structure is considered vital to the party’s electoral mobilisation efforts, policy advocacy, and national political engagement.
Supporters of Mr Ako Gunn say his long-standing involvement within the party’s communication apparatus and grassroots mobilisation efforts position him strongly for the role.
Political analysts note that internal party communication, digital engagement, and public perception management are increasingly becoming decisive factors in Ghana’s political landscape.
His campaign is therefore expected to focus heavily on strengthening grassroots communication networks, media coordination, and digital political engagement ahead of future national elections.
Mr Ako Gunn’s announcement has already sparked discussions among party faithful and political commentators, with many expected to follow developments closely as the internal election season approaches.
The NDC is expected to hold internal elections to elect national executives who will steer the affairs of the party over the coming years.
